Frequently asked questions

Can I download private VK videos or videos from closed groups?

No. Only public videos can be saved. Private videos and videos in closed groups aren’t supported, even if you can watch them in your own VK account.

What quality and format will my VK video be?

Each option is an MP4, and you choose from the qualities VK offers for that video. The list depends on what the uploader put on VK; you can also save the sound as MP3.

Where do VK videos go on iPhone and Android?

On iPhone, the MP4 lands in Safari’s Downloads and the Files app; on Android, in the browser’s Downloads or the Files app. From there you can move it to Photos or your gallery.

Which VK links work?

Links to a single video on vk.com or vkvideo.ru, such as vk.com/video-123_456, and vk.com addresses with ?z=video… in them. Links to a whole community, profile or playlist don’t point to one video.

Why won’t my VK video download?

Check that the video is public and that the link opens one video. Private videos and closed groups can’t be saved, and download links expire after 10 minutes, so paste the link again for fresh ones.

Can I upload VK videos I save somewhere else?

Only save videos you have the right to use, such as your own uploads or ones the owner lets you keep. Respect creators’ rights and don’t share other people’s videos as your own.
